Stretch marks, also known as striae, are a type of skin scarring that often occurs when the skin is stretched rapidly due to growth like at puberty or with pregnancy, weight gain, or certain hormonal changes. They appear as indented streaks on the skin’s surface and can vary in colour from pink, reddish, or purple to lighter shades like white or silver. Stretch marks commonly appear on the abdomen, thighs, hips, breasts, and buttocks.
